The Braitmayer Foundation

How to Apply

Effective February 1, 2012, the Braitmayer Foundation will accept applications via its online application system. All applications and program evaluation reports will be submitted online. 

Applications are accepted in forms other than online, however only with prior approval from foundation staff.  After February 1st, please call (410) 480-2799 to request approval.

Following are the deadline and notification dates:

Proposals (10K) and Letters of Inquiry (35K) Due: March 15, 2012 (midnight) 
Notification to Applicants Requesting 10K: August 1st, 2012
Notification to Applicants Requesting 35K: March 15th, 2013 

ALL DEADLINES ARE FIRM. Proposals submitted after the deadline will not be considered. All organizations interested in applying should consult our guidelines (see below) prior to submitting an application.

Tips for online submission:

  • You will be asked to create an account when you begin the application process by creating an email login and password. Please note that this login will be your organization login and will be used for future applications (if applicable) and follow-up documents. You will need to notify us if your primary contact person changes to create a new login. 
  • The application contains required questions that must be answered in order for the application to be submitted. All required questions are marked with an *.
  • Please be sure to save your online application draft frequently, especially if you plan to work on it in stages.

GRANT GUIDELINES

 

OBJECTIVES


The Foundation is interested in proposals utilizing innovative practices in K-12 education throughout the United States. Of particular interest are:

  • Curricular and school reform initiatives.
  • Preparation of and professional development opportunities for teachers, particularly those which encourage people of high ability and diverse background to enter and remain in K-12 teaching.

In addition, the Braitmayer Foundation provides modest support of activities in Marion, Massachusetts and surrounding communities which will improve the quality of life for residents in the area. 

 

GUIDELINES

 
The Foundation is pleased to have its grants used anywhere in the United States as seed money, challenge grants, or to match other grants to the recipient organizations. The Foundation does not make grants to individuals, multi year grants, nor grants for general operating, endowment purposes or building programs. Unless a small percentage of the total amount requested, normally the Foundation does not make grants for childcare, pre-kindergarten, or after school programs nor for equipment including hardware, software, and books. Presently, the Foundation has two mechanisms for making grants depending upon their size.

1. Grants up to $35,000
Applicants should submit an online application by March 15th:

  • By August 1st, the trustees will invite selected organizations to submit full proposals due October 15th. Normally a representative of the Foundation will conduct a site visit prior to the end of February. Decisions will be announced by March 15th. Successful organizations must wait two years before reapplication. 

2. Grants up to $10,000
Applicants should submit an online application by March 15th::

Decisions will be announced by August 1st. Successful organizations must wait two years before reapplication for a grant up to $10,000 or before beginning application for a grant up to $35,000.
